PART V - Descaler - Clean Glass Shower Doors in Minutes! No Scrubbing, No Acid.

This post is part of a series in response to learning from an episode of the Dr. Oz show that POISONING is the #1 cause of death by injury at home! Because they specifically mentioned Drain Clearing Chemicals, Toilet Cleaners and Oven Cleaners I am providing information on safer alternatives by Norwex.

Because I do not currently (I have had in the past) have glass shower doors and have never used the Norwex Descaler I did not think of it right away to be a part of this series. It certainly does fit though because the products people are using in the bathroom for the same jobs this Descaler will do are pretty nasty such as bleach, Vim, Comet, Tilex, etc.  This photo pretty much is how we should be dressing  (I was certainly tempted in the past) when using some of those chemicals.  They really are that bad.

To top it off a fellow Norwex Independent Sales Consultant had used it recently and shared her experience and photos with me just a couple of weeks ago.  Perfect timing!  Her name is Lizbeth Rosby and she lives in Maple Ridge.  Contact me and I will connect you with her if you live in that area and would like to hold a product demonstration party in your home.

Lizbeth used the product on shower doors in a trailer that has been a family summer retreat in Birch Bay for the last 30 years.  It belongs to her Grandparents.  She says, "It wasn't cleaned very well on a regular basis from about 15 years ago as my Nana wasn't well, and then even less than that from about 10 years ago.  The before really doesn't do the yuck justice. It's still kinda scummy in the after, but there is a hugely noticeable difference and the whole process took me under 10 minutes including waiting time after the initial spray. *dusts off hands* Nothin' to it!"

The instructions says to leave it on 5 to 10 minutes but Lizbeth said she only left it on 3 or 4 minutes.  You can tell by these photos and the Avocado green tub that these are old shower doors.  : )  You can also imagine that the lighting in there and these photos are not doing the scummy before doors and the clean after doors justice.  Nevertheless it is very obvious that this stuff works!  Click on the photo for a close up!

Norwex Descaler is a highly-effective and environmentally-friendly product for heavy-duty cleaning and removal of calcium, lime and rust stains.
Most descalers are dangerous chemical acids that can burn surfaces and damage the environment while they try to break down mineral stains.

Use for removing:
* Soap scum
* Lime/scale
* Calcium
* Rust stains

If used regularly lime build-up can be avoided.
From:
* Shower doors
* Shower curtains
* Shower stalls
* Bathtubs, etc.

Descaler

Removes water marks from glass and tiles where water has evaporated leaving minerals to stain the surface.

Removes mineral stains where water has consistently dripped on a
surface.

Removes stains around taps and drains.

WARNING: Do not use on granite, marble or unsealed grouted areas as the natural acids may damage the surface. Always test on an inconspicuous place before using.

Step 1 Spray the liquid on the surface, and let it work for 5-10 minutes.
Step 2 Wash off with a moist microfiber cloth, before surface dries.
Step 3 For heavier stains repeat the process.
Step 4 When used regularly, it will prevent build-up of mineral stains.

This is the 3rd and best version of Norwex Descaler:

Norwex DeScaler now improved!
Norwex DeScaler is now improved! It contains the same basic ingredients it always has: Water, orange extract, sodium gluconate, glutamic acid, and glucuronic acid; however, it is no longer colored. It does not stain, and works as quickly as before.

A little goes a long way, and, in most instances, it takes only a couple minutes to get the job done.

This product has proven to be fantastic at removing scale from toilets and scale and rust from the shower. While the bad spots in the shower may take a couple of treatments, there should be noticeable improvement after each use.

Scale is a mineral deposit of calcium and/or magnesium that can leave white spots, and/or result in a whitish crust forming on shower, bath, sink, toilet and tap surfaces etc (this buildup may appear orange in color if the water is also high in iron). Scale is not black in color and is not another word for mold – so no, this product will not likely be effective to kill or remove mold from surfaces.
