NEW PRODUCTS!!!!!! Fall 2010

Norwex has 7 new products for you choose from starting NOW!  Guess what, they now have kids line!  Not a surprise to anyone with kids in their life.  Children like to do what the grown ups are doing.  I've seen many pictures and read many stories about kids using the mop and the dusting mitt.  It's safe and easy so they could finally help and not be told no because of the chemicals that used to be involved in cleaning : )

When I recently did a presentation at my Sister In Law's place I gave my nieces each a travel size Envrio Cloth.  Jessica, who is 4 1/2, ran around cleaning everything in sight!  Sasha, who is 2, spent most of her time working on the sliding glass door.  She washed it over and over and over and over again!  Her Dad (my Brother) recorded a little video.

This is the Kids Cloth Package which includes a Mitt, Enviro Cloth and Window Cloth (all antibac)!  I took my own picture as the one on the website covers the mitt.  The colours are actually a little brighter than they appear here.  I really like the sizes so I am going clean with them and see how it goes!


They also have a cute and handy Kids Backpack. They (my nieces) will of course be getting all of these for Christmas.  They will have to share of course.  One can mop while the other cleans.  One can dust while the other does windows.  Too cute.  I still remember how much I loved my mini hoover when I was a kid.  Who am I kidding, I'm not going to be able to wait until Christmas!  They'll get them within a couple of weeks! LOL 

And of course there is a Kids Mop Package! The telescopic handle goes from 70 cm to 11 6cm 27.5" to 45.5"  I'm thinking we many never have to clean again!  The kids are going to beat us to it!  I've been using Norwex Microfiber for 2 months now and I still can't get over how awesome it is and how EASY and FAST it is to clean now!

Now for the grown up stuff.  Here are the other new products.  This is the Makeup Removal Package.  These antibac microfiber cloths are a suede texture.  I can't even describe just how soft they are!  Can't get any gentler for your delicate eye area and removing makeup.  Can't wait to try them!  My mother has.  She loved how soft they are and said they did a great job removing her mascara and liquid eyeliner.  My hope is they will release the mascara when rinsing better than the Baby and Body Pack cloths do. I'm going to use them today to remove mascara and add my experience and photos to me previous post about removing makeup with microfiber.

This is the Washing Net (hanger not included) which has 2 handy hooks.  It's hanging on the back of my door in a closet.  I place my dirty microfiber in it and when it's laundry time I just grab it and throw it in the washer and then the dryer.  It is 30cm x 40cm (12" X 17") which is quite large.  I didn't get that when I read the measurements and thought it would be too small because they didn't specify 17" long, 12" tall and 12" deep. Now that I have one I can assure you it is a good size.  Also good for delicates and baby clothes.  I will also be using this for my socks as they always seem to get lost in the laundry!  

The mesh on this looks good enough that I wonder if it would make the issue of washing with lint free laundry no longer an issue?  (I'm told Norwex still strongly recommends not washing microfiber with high lint items and used towels as an example.) The mesh is made in such a way that the holes are small not large like any other one I have had before.  It looks like the standard ones but it's exceptional because it has more netting in the netting!  LOL

This is the Veggie and Fruit Scrub Cloth.  One side is scrubby and the other side is for polishing / drying.  They call it "Fruit Green"?  It is a brownish green.  If I say Army Green you will know the colour immediately.  On the scrub side the scrub "fibers" are rust brown.  The combination of that brown with the army green does remind me of a fruit!  The skin of a Kiwi fruit! This cloth is going to be great for getting wax, dirt, etc off of fruits and veggies!

Last but not least...... the Lint Mitt!  In fact I think it is the MOST beneficial new product released!  Mind you that could be because I have 3 cats and one has loooooong white fur!  When I saw this thing in person I admit I was taken aback by how small it is.  In hindsight I know that anything larger would be hard to handle.  The texture is similar to those red lint brushes but it does the job 10 TIMES BETTER!  I used it on furniture where I couldn't even see any lint or fur and the mitt was loaded!  Works awesome on clothes and comforters and table clothes and curtains too!  The great thing about the size is I can carry one with me!  If you have pets you may be able to relate to using a red lint brush and a sticky roller on your clothes before you go out.  You think you got it all. Then you get outside in the daylight and see you still have lots stuck to you!  Ugh!  I love this thing and I wish they sold it in packs of 3!  So top three reasons this makes my #1 spot in the list of 7 new products: 

1. It is small and can be kept in a pocket or purse or glove compartment, etc. 
2. It works 10 times better than other lint/fur removal products out there.
3. No waste (garbage) created!

HOW TO USE THE LINT MITT!  Don't wear it the way I have it on in the picture.  It just turns and twists on your hand.  I tried Sticking thumb in the loop but that only helped a little.  Still felt awkward.  Then I put my thumb inside the mitt.  That's the ticket!  cramming your thumb in there makes the mitt nice and tight and taught!  More comfortable and more effective. Try it all 3 ways and you will see what I mean.  IF YOU HAVE PETS YOU WILL LOVE THIS LINT MITT!!!  Can you tell I do?  LOL  One thing I am still trying to figure out is how to get the lint out of the mitt!  It holds onto it so well I can't get it out.  I'll let you know!

Oven & Grill Cleaner

I have never cleaned an oven.  I have avoided it all costs.  The nasty chemical smell and fumes have kept me far away from the task. It was like I could feel my lungs being burned!  Just thinking about it makes my nostrils tingle!  LOL  Fortunately I have always been blessed with roommates willing to do the job. But I still felt bad about them being subjected to the fumes and the burning skin if you got any cleaner on you.  Not to mention my anxiety over how it might affect my beloved cats! To top it all off there was the smell that continues every time you used the oven for some time after cleaning!

So many people have been asking about the Norwex Oven and Grill Cleaner.  Probably because BBQ season is coming to an end and grills need to be cleaned.  Even though I trust Norwex fully, know that all their products work like they say they do and they have a 60 day money back guarantee, I still prefer to speak from personal experience.   It helped that my oven needed cleaning.  So I bought some and gave it a try. 

I knew that Norwex's Cleaner would be as safe and unoffensive as possible while still being able to get the job done!  I still can't believe how fast it works!  I always thought of oven cleaning as a time consuming job.  Spray it on.  Leave it on for quite some time.  Stink up the whole house while you cook the cleaner!

With this stuff you heat the oven to 100 degrees Farenheit.  Spray on the cleaner.  Let it sit for JUST 5 MINUTES and then wipe off with a damp Enviro Cloth.  Could have been done in about 15 minutes but I did a second treatment to get the spots I missed the first time and to do the racks.  So it took me half an hour.  That's it!  you could even see through the glass door.  Now it reflects like a mirror it is so clean.  My mom who has cleaned more that a few ovens in her life said she has never seen an oven so clean that wasn't brand new!

The bottle is 500 ml.  I think I used maybe a quarter cup.  There is enough in a bottle to clean your oven and your BBQ a few times. Can also be used on:   stainless steel, ceramic, chrome, Formica®, plastic, iron, aluminum, and painted surfaces. LOVE IT!!! 

The product information on the Norwex.com website says:  Formulated for cleaning the toughest oven and grill grime. Dissolves the heaviest burned-on deposits so they can be wiped or rinsed clean. Odourless, water-based, non-caustic cleaner. Bio-based, all-natural and biodegradable.

The product was not odourless.  When it hit the warm oven and turned to steam it of course had an odour, though it was not strong or offensive like I find other store bought cleaners to be.  Which reminds me... don't heat the oven too hot (like I did : ) as the water based cleaner will simply evaporate (and create a lot of steam you don't want to breath in) before it has a chance to work.

Even non-chemical, non-caustic, non-corrosive, water based products like this one can irritate so do the usual stuff such as turning on the extraction fan above your over, wear gloves, avoid skin contact or breathing the product in.  After cleaning you are to heat the oven to 200 F for 10 minutes to evaporate any cleaner left behind if you did`t wipe well.

I am super happy with this product and can now wholeheartedly recommend it based on personal experience!

Some official info from Norwex:

Standard oven cleaners contain lye and petroleum distillates and come in aerosol containers. None of this is good for your health…and certainly not good for the environment. Standard oven cleaners carry a health rating of 3, which means they cause serious health effects and they are known to cause burns to skin, eyes, mouth, throat, and even stomach - on contact! Overspray has also resulted in permanent damage to flooring and countertops.
 
Norwex Oven and Grill Cleaner carries a health rating of 1, comes in a pump (which sprays very effectively, resulting in less use of product), and is also much friendlier from an environmental standpoint due to its ingredients and packaging.
 
The primary active ingredients are enzymes and bacteria which do an amazing job of naturally breaking down baked-on fats, oils, greases, proteins, and carbohydrates. Simply heat the oven to 100 F, apply, wait for 5 minutes, and wipe with an Envirocloth. Really tough spots may require a second treatment and/or scrubbing with a Spirisponge. Use of gloves is recommended…as this cleaner is amazingly effective, and prolonged contact could result in some skin irritation.

Window (Polishing) Cloth

The Antibac Microfiber Enviro Cloth has a partner in cleaning that is probably the 2nd most popular Norwex product.  It is the Window Cloth! It too is antibac microfiber.  It is smoother than the Enviro Cloth.  Nothing cleans and polishes shiny stuff like this cloth!  I use my Window Cloth to clean my TV, glass decorative items, laptop screen, windows, mirrors, stainless steel, brass, chrome, jewelry, faucets and fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom.

HOW TO USE IT: 
If something is really dirty it must be cleaned first with an Enviro Cloth and then polished (dried) with the Window Cloth. 
If it is just a little dirty as in dust or fingerprints then you spray the item or surface with water and then polish (dry) with the Window Cloth.

I  LOVE clean windows but I hated cleaning them because:

1. I hate the smell of ammonia.
2. I hate all the paper towels it takes.
3. I can never seem to get them totally clean!   I always find streaks or foggy looking bits.  
4. I've not had much success with the newspaper and vinegar method either.

It thrills me to no end that now I can clean my windows and mirrors streak free in one pass with JUST WATER and no waste (paper towels) or ammonia.  NO RESIDUE! They are cleaner than I have ever seen them before.  On a sunny day you can`t see the window.  When you look outside it`s like there is no window!  LOVE IT!

There was one person who said they did have streaks the first time using the Window Cloth.  This can occur for one of two reasons.  Not enough water was used.  Residue from cleaners. Do you know that window cleaners leave a wax residue behind? Because of this I recommend that people give windows and mirrors a really good wash with an Enviro Cloth the first time and then polish dry with the Window Cloth. After that for maintenance they will be able to just spray with water and use just the Window Cloth.  I keep my cloth in the bathroom so I can clean my mirror after showers when it is already wet from steam.

Many report their windows and mirrors and such stay cleaner longer now that they use this cloth.  At first I couldn't see why but now I do.  Cleaners and soaps leave a residue which attracts and holds dirt so things get dirty faster.  With water and this cloth the surface is left 99.9% free of dirt, dust, grease, etc.  No soap, dirt or cleaner residue left on windows for new dust and dirt to be attracted to and caught on.

One note about laptop or LCD or big screen tv's, it is best to dampen the cloth rather than spray water on the surface. I get better results that way.  Spraying it could cause droplet marks.

I don't have much stainless steel, just my microwave is, so I'll quote the instructions given by the company on how to clean stainless steel:
Use slightly moist (very little water) and wipe the stainless steel in the same direction as the grain. For heavily-soiled fridges, first clean with a moist Enviro Cloth, then finish with the Window Cloth in the same direction as the grain.

I don't have granite countertops but apparently it's good for that too! 
Clean countertops first with the Kitchen Cloth or Enviro Cloth and water. Then finish the counters with the Window Cloth unfolding to a new side to ensure you are always finishing with a dry, clean area of microfiber.

BOTTOM LINE:  I used to think I didn't need this cloth but now I consider it an essential.  The Enviro Cloth will clean all of the things I mentioned at the beginning and they will be shiny but if you really look you will see the water marks left behind on some things and they won't be as shiny as they could be if polished with the Window Cloth.

Do not use Norwex microfiber on anti-glare coated surfaces.

Microfiber Removes Waterproof Mascara with Just WATER!

Body Pack - Vibrant

Norwex makes a microfiber facecloth.  They sell them in packs of 3 which they call a "Body Pack".  I have used them and I love them!  Based on my experience and that of other users, here is why I love them:

-  Exfoliates skin gently!  No gritty dermabrasion stuff that scratches up your skin (and makes mine flaky!).
-  Because there are so many fibers (thousands) you are clean with just a couple of passes of the cloth!
-  Cleans thoroughly and quickly with just water.
-  You save loads of money on soap an cleansers.
-  Removes dirt, oil, dead skin, etc..
-  Helps with acne (back and face), blackheads and oily skin.
-  No more razor burn and ingrown hairs for men!
-  Removes, in just a few wipes, deodourant/antiperspirant residue that sometimes traps body odour so armpits are never "odourless".
-  Removes makeup easily with just water.  Even waterproof mascara!

Yesterday I finally documented mascara removal.  These cloths are so soft you can barely feel them.  It's hard to describe but it's like getting water to stay together and use as a cloth and wipe your face with it rather than splashing it all over the place!  I admit it.  I was too lazy most days to wash my face at the end of the day never mind remove makeup. Not anymore!  I use the smaller Baby Cloths to remove my makeup. This picture on the right shows my eye with black powder eyeliner and 3 coats of waterproof mascara.  The next photo is after removing the makeup with a Norwex microfiber cloth.  Took maybe a minute doing both eyes at the same time!

I stopped wearing makeup about 20 years ago because I was lazy and because it was getting harder and harder to get the mascara off.  Didn't really enjoy rubbing soap in my eyes either.  Make up removers are often oily and I didn't like that feeling either.  Now, I look forward to being able to clean my face in less than a minute with these microfiber facecloths.  I use the baby size for washing my face and the regular size for the shower/bath.  Soap free cleaning just like the Enviro Cloth which is a blessing for those with sensitive skin.  I've even started wearing makeup again.  I like being able to see my nearly invisible eyelashes! 

This is what the cloth looked like when I was done.  I wet the cloth well with lukewarm water.  I leaned over the sink and pressed the cloth to the underside of my lashes and waited a few seconds for the water to soak into the mascara and soften it.  Then I slowly and gently wiped upwards.  I felt no pulling whatsoever.  You might if the cloth is not good and wet.  After about 2.5 inches of cloth had passed over my eyelashes I pulled it away to look.  Almost all mascara was gone.  Wiped down to get the eyeshadow and eyeliner.  Another little wipe under the lashes and it was ALL gone!  I couldn't believe it!  AWESOME!  Today I tried  the short swipe and dab method but it took longer.  Works better to just stay in contact with the cloth.  But that is just me.  You'll do what you want to do!

Body Pack - Natural

Depending on the cloth rinsing with COLD water may or may not get the mascara out.  If it does not and you are concerned us a little Norwex Dishwashing Liquid to spot clean the cloth.  I put a little of that (1 part) mixed with water (6 or 7 parts) in a foam dispenser.  That's all it takes!  I also use that foam to spot clean a stain in between launders with my Enviro Cloth.  Soap can leave a residue so be sure to rinse reaaaaaaally well!  Soap can coat the fibers and prevent the silver from doing it's job AND, did you know, soap attracts dirt and bacteria!  The way soap "cleans" is it attracts dirt and water.  The dirt gets attracted to and trapped in the soapy water and hopefully rinsed away!  This is why rinsing is important. These cloths don't NEED soap to clean because the hundreds of thousands of fibers attract and hold the dirt with just water.  The more fiber the more dirt and water!  They use static electricity when dry and capilliary action when wet.  Use soap to clean the cloths and only water to clean with the cloths!

Makeup Removal Package

Now, as of September 2010, there is a new cloth in town!  It is a smooth suede texture and even softer than the body pack and baby cloths.   It was designed specifically for removing eye makeup and use around the delicate eye area.  I think it is also great for when you want to clean your face without the exfoliation you get with the other microfiber cloths.  Another purpose for the texture of the new cloths was to address the issue of the mascara not easily rinsing off of the body pack and baby cloths.  I'm happy to report that it does rinse off easily with just water!  COLD water works best!  The before and after pictures are below.  I could see just a hint of grey (maybe?) in the area where the mascara had been.  I wonder if I would have seen it had I not known it had been there in the first place. Bottom line? A great and welcome new product from Norwex for those who wear makeup!
