PART V - Descaler - Clean Glass Shower Doors in Minutes! No Scrubbing, No Acid.

This post is part of a series in response to learning from an episode of the Dr. Oz show that POISONING is the #1 cause of death by injury at home! Because they specifically mentioned Drain Clearing Chemicals, Toilet Cleaners and Oven Cleaners I am providing information on safer alternatives by Norwex.

Because I do not currently (I have had in the past) have glass shower doors and have never used the Norwex Descaler I did not think of it right away to be a part of this series. It certainly does fit though because the products people are using in the bathroom for the same jobs this Descaler will do are pretty nasty such as bleach, Vim, Comet, Tilex, etc.  This photo pretty much is how we should be dressing  (I was certainly tempted in the past) when using some of those chemicals.  They really are that bad.

To top it off a fellow Norwex Independent Sales Consultant had used it recently and shared her experience and photos with me just a couple of weeks ago.  Perfect timing!  Her name is Lizbeth Rosby and she lives in Maple Ridge.  Contact me and I will connect you with her if you live in that area and would like to hold a product demonstration party in your home.

Lizbeth used the product on shower doors in a trailer that has been a family summer retreat in Birch Bay for the last 30 years.  It belongs to her Grandparents.  She says, "It wasn't cleaned very well on a regular basis from about 15 years ago as my Nana wasn't well, and then even less than that from about 10 years ago.  The before really doesn't do the yuck justice. It's still kinda scummy in the after, but there is a hugely noticeable difference and the whole process took me under 10 minutes including waiting time after the initial spray. *dusts off hands* Nothin' to it!"

The instructions says to leave it on 5 to 10 minutes but Lizbeth said she only left it on 3 or 4 minutes.  You can tell by these photos and the Avocado green tub that these are old shower doors.  : )  You can also imagine that the lighting in there and these photos are not doing the scummy before doors and the clean after doors justice.  Nevertheless it is very obvious that this stuff works!  Click on the photo for a close up!

Norwex Descaler is a highly-effective and environmentally-friendly product for heavy-duty cleaning and removal of calcium, lime and rust stains.
Most descalers are dangerous chemical acids that can burn surfaces and damage the environment while they try to break down mineral stains.

Use for removing:
* Soap scum
* Lime/scale
* Calcium
* Rust stains

If used regularly lime build-up can be avoided.
From:
* Shower doors
* Shower curtains
* Shower stalls
* Bathtubs, etc.

Descaler

Removes water marks from glass and tiles where water has evaporated leaving minerals to stain the surface.

Removes mineral stains where water has consistently dripped on a
surface.

Removes stains around taps and drains.

WARNING: Do not use on granite, marble or unsealed grouted areas as the natural acids may damage the surface. Always test on an inconspicuous place before using.

Step 1 Spray the liquid on the surface, and let it work for 5-10 minutes.
Step 2 Wash off with a moist microfiber cloth, before surface dries.
Step 3 For heavier stains repeat the process.
Step 4 When used regularly, it will prevent build-up of mineral stains.

This is the 3rd and best version of Norwex Descaler:

Tech Talk by Candi Bezte, Norwex Science and Technical Advisor
Norwex DeScaler now improved!
Norwex DeScaler is now improved! It contains the same basic ingredients it always has: Water, orange extract, sodium gluconate, glutamic acid, and glucuronic acid; however, it is no longer colored. It does not stain, and works as quickly as before.

A little goes a long way, and, in most instances, it takes only a couple minutes to get the job done.

This product has proven to be fantastic at removing scale from toilets and scale and rust from the shower. While the bad spots in the shower may take a couple of treatments, there should be noticeable improvement after each use.

Scale is a mineral deposit of calcium and/or magnesium that can leave white spots, and/or result in a whitish crust forming on shower, bath, sink, toilet and tap surfaces etc (this buildup may appear orange in color if the water is also high in iron). Scale is not black in color and is not another word for mold – so no, this product will not likely be effective to kill or remove mold from surfaces.

PART IV - Oven and Grill Cleaner - Enzymes, No Fumes, 5 Minutes!

I actually already posted about Norwex Oven and Grill Cleaner back in August which I will link to at the end.  I just wanted to add a little to that post.

I used it on my oven.  The feedback that I have heard the most is that it doesn't even compare with easy off oven cleaner.  One customer said she used to leave the easy off in her oven overnight and it didn't even come close to the getting the oven as clean as the Norwex Cleaner does is just 5 minutes!

Here is someone's experience using it on a BBQ.

When I first got this product I was so excited to try it out on my "embarrassingly dirty" BBQ.  It had needed a good cleaning for a while but the idea of taking an hour or more to do it, always stopped me from starting the task.  I slightly heated the BBQ, took the grills out and sprayed on the Oven and Grill Cleaner, then sprayed inside the BBQ, left for 5 minutes came back with my HOSE and hosed off the grills....WOW!!!!!  In 1 min the grills looked about 80% clean!!!  Then I took my Spirinetts and effortlessly rubbed down the inside of the BBQ, then swiped it down with an Envrio Cloth.  DONE in 15 minutes!!!!  And with such ease!!!  LOVE the Oven and Grill Cleaner!! Terra V.

PART III - Drain Care - Acid and Fume Free!

This post is about the Drain Care product by Norwex.

FROM NORWEX: Dissolves clogs and eliminates sluggish drains and odours. Does not create heat or fumes. Safe for use on all plastic and metal pipes,
kitchen and bathroom drains, garbage disposals, septic systems and RV’s.

Drain Care is an all-natural, botanical blend that contains no poisons, acids, solvents or caustics.

Step 1
Remove as much standing water as possible from sinks, tubs, showers and drains before adding product.

Step 2
Apply one scoop of Norwex Drain Care into slow and clogged drains.

Step 3
Add 120ml/4 ounces (1/2 cup) of warm water to activate Norwex Drain Care. Allow product to foam.

Step 4
After foaming action has stopped, wait two hours before using drain again. Use regularly to keep drains and pipes flowing freely.

* On the package it says 2 to 4 hours and I have been told by some that on tough clogs they have left it overnight.

I tried the Norwex Drain Care in my tub and bathroom sink this week.  I am very pleased with this product.  There are no windows in my bathroom and the extractor fan does not work.  Chemicals become overwhelming very fast in there.  There was NO ODOUR at all from this and I have a super sensitive nose.  I even closed the door for 4 hours while it worked to keep my cat out.  I could not smell anything when I entered the room. Both drains are clearing fast now.  Next I will do the kitchen.  I have always known that regular drain care is recommended but I did not do it because the chemicals and fumes are just so nasty.  Now that I have this product I will treat my drains quarterly.  If you don't you end up having to get it snaked which costs a minimum of $100 for something that takes the plumber a couple of minutes!  Or you use a bunch of the nasty stuff to burn it away and send that off down your drain.  Also drain care isn't just about clogs.  Food in your drain or disposal attracts flies and it smells!
